From a tiny spice stall in Barcelona to your kitchen β how obsession became a mission.
In 2009, our founder Elena Voss bit into a Kampot peppercorn at a Phnom Penh market stall and everything changed. The complexity, the fragrance, the way it lingered β it was nothing like the dusty pre-ground powder she'd used for decades. She came home with two suitcases full of pepper and a question: why doesn't everyone have access to this?
SpiceStone started in Elena's Barcelona apartment β curating rare peppers for chef friends and sourcing stone mortars from Southeast Asian artisans. Word spread. Within a year, restaurants across Spain were ordering, and home cooks were discovering flavours they'd never imagined.
Today we work directly with over 40 artisans and small-batch farmers across 15 countries. Every product in our collection has been personally tested, tasted, and approved. We don't do mass production. We don't do shortcuts. We do flavour, craftsmanship, and obsessive quality β because your food deserves nothing less.
We source from farms practising regenerative agriculture. Our packaging is 100% recyclable or compostable. Zero single-use plastic in our entire supply chain since 2021.
Our artisans and farmers earn living wages β not market minimums. We publish our supply chain annually and visit every partner at least once a year.
Every batch is tested for flavour, aroma, and purity. We reject up to 30% of incoming stock. If it doesn't make us say "wow," it doesn't make it to you.
